Annealing

Annealing the tangs of a couple cleavers I’m working on today. First step is heat the steel (in this case I’m only worried about the tang of each cleaver) to non-magnetic, and then cool it slowly under a pile of ash.

This way, the steel in the tang will be softer when I drill holes in order to attach the scales
